Well, I did it! Against the odds (the freezing weather, sick child, minimal sleep 😂) I walked 50km in the last 7 days for the #WalkForHim challenge and have raised just under $700 for @pcfa_oz 💙🙏

Last month I started working with the It’s a Bloke Thing Foundation and I’ve been reminded just how common prostate cancer is - and how quietly it can creep in.

It’s the most diagnosed cancer in Australian men… and yet, in the early stages, it often has no symptoms at all.

A few years ago, my dad was diagnosed, and thanks to early detection and surgery, he now has the all-clear 🙌 But the more people I spoke to about it, the more I heard my dad / brother / pop / uncle had it too.

So during Men’s Health Week (9–15 June), I’m doing the Walk For Him, walking 50km in honour of my dad, and to raise funds and awareness for this life-saving cause.

For years, I dreamed of celebrating Mother’s Day

For years, I dreamed of celebrating Mother’s Day as a mum myself.

Then today, my fourth Mother’s Day with Florence (the first being when she was just two days old), I found myself thinking if I hear the word “Mummy” one more time, I’m going to scream!!!

And just like that, the guilt rolled in. Shame, too, because how dare I be so incredibly frustrated by something I wanted so badly?

But that’s the messy magic of motherhood, I guess.
✨To be pulled so deeply into love and into exhaustion.
✨To want space and then feel like a piece of me is missing when we’re apart.
✨To be the safest place in her world while craving my own quiet corner.

And that’s when I remind myself that two things can be true at once. I can honour how hard it is and be incredibly grateful for this life I’ve created.

And through it all, I’m endlessly thankful for my own mum, who honestly I’ve never needed more! How lucky I am to have one of the best.

Happy Mother’s Day to every kind of mum — the ones dreaming of motherhood and the ones holding it all, feeling all the things, and doing their best every single day.
